A group of people is spreading out through Collier County to save lives.
The Gentle’Men Against Domestic Violence Take a Stand event is happening in Collier County.
They are trying to prevent abuse and help victims with a way out by leaving door hangers, or paper flyers, with information on the Naples Shelter for Abused Women and Children, including a phone number for their hotline.
It is meant to catch the eye of anyone needing help right at their front door.
The group of men who are leaving the door hangers is all wearing purple.
The group of men visited the Naples Manor Neighborhood and other neighborhoods near US- 41 and Collier Boulevard.
Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said Collier County is seeing the number of domestic incidents rise.
In 2020 alone, more than 1,600 domestic violence calls came into 911.
“We have dedicated men who are trying to engage and encourage other men in the community to take a stand against domestic violence, to stop that cycle of violence, to take a stand against human trafficking, and to stop involving themselves in sex services that promulgate that,” Rambosk said.
