JJ’s Cottage Welcomes New Family

“Home is where healing takes root, and futures begin to bloom.” We’re celebrating another beautiful move-in at our Transitional Living cottages. Each time a survivor walks through the door of their new home, we witness something powerful relief, joy, and the spark of possibility. Our Transitional Living program offers survivors and their children a safe 3-bedroom home and wraparound support including counseling, education, and life-skills classes. With the help of The Shelter Guild, each cottage is thoughtfully prepared using quality furnishings and décor from The Shelter Options Shoppe creating a warm, welcoming space that families can keep as they move forward. “Mary” and her sons, “Brad” and “Nick,” arrived with huge smiles, eager to see their new home. The boys burst into the Purple Cottage, shouting “OMG we got bikes!” before racing to explore their rooms—Brad thrilled with the Minecraft décor and Nick excitedly touching every soccer item. When Mary stepped into her beautifully prepared room, she began to cry, asking, “Is this real?” over and over as she hugged us in gratitude. The family loved every detail, from the playful kids’ bathroom to the kitchen and back porch, leaving them overwhelmed with joy and disbelief at their new beginning.
