The Shelter for Abused Women & Children Receives $75K Grant from Collier Community Foundation
Naples, FL – September 28, 2026 – The Shelter for Abused Women & Children has received a $75,000 grant from the Collier Community Foundation (CCF) to support the salaries of its Emergency Shelter Advocates, who provide critical services to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
The grant, provided through a generous CCF donor, will help ensure trained advocates are available to provide crisis intervention, safety planning and economic justice assistance to survivors.
Emergency Shelter Advocates help survivors access essential resources, navigate financial challenges, connect with employment opportunities and community benefits and take steps toward financial stability and independence.
For survivors, achieving safety often requires more than immediate shelter. Economic stability and access to resources are essential to building a life free from abuse. The grant will help The Shelter provide ongoing advocacy and support as survivors stabilize their lives, strengthen their financial independence and work toward safe, self-sufficient futures.
“Economic stability is an essential part of safety and independence for survivors,” said Linda Oberhaus, CEO of The Shelter for Abused Women & Children. “We are deeply grateful to the Collier Community Foundation and its generous donors for investing in the advocates who help survivors navigate critical resources, overcome financial barriers and build the foundation for a safer, more independent future. This support allows us to meet survivors where they are and walk alongside them as they rebuild their lives free from abuse.”
The funding supports The Shelter’s mission to lead the community in providing safety, shelter and education for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. By investing in Emergency Shelter Advocates, the grant strengthens The Shelter’s ability to address both survivors’ immediate safety needs and the longer-term barriers they face as they work toward independence.
The Collier Community Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Selected organizations receive grant dollars from the Foundation’s discretionary funds. These funds are provided by donors who believe in the Community Foundation’s ability to mobilize resources to address the community’s greatest needs.
