The Shelter receives $10K in advancing economic justice for survivors grants
NAPLES, Fla. — The Shelter for Abused Women & Children is pleased to announce the receipt of two Advancing Economic Justice for Survivors Grants through the Collier Community Foundation, totaling $10,000.
Made possible through the generosity of Collier Community Foundation donors, the grants will support the salaries of Emergency Shelter Advocates at The Shelter, who provide critical services to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
Emergency Shelter Advocates play a vital role in helping survivors navigate some of the most challenging moments of their lives. They provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and economic justice assistance while connecting survivors with essential resources that promote long-term stability and independence.
“Economic abuse is a common tactic used by abusers to maintain power and control,” said Linda Oberhaus, CEO of The Shelter for Abused Women & Children. “These grants will help ensure that survivors have access to the support and resources they need to achieve financial stability, regain independence, and build safer futures for themselves and their families.”
Funding will help advocates assist survivors in overcoming barriers to safety, accessing community resources, and developing the financial tools necessary to live free from harm and abuse.
The Shelter extends its sincere gratitude to the Collier Community Foundation and its donors for their commitment to advancing economic justice and empowering survivors throughout Collier County.
The Collier Community Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Selected organizations receive grant dollars from the Foundation’s discretionary funds. These funds were gifted by donors who believe in the Community Foundation’s ability to mobilize resources to address the community’s greatest needs.
