The Shelter receives $20K grant from Women’s Foundation of Collier County

The Shelter for Abused Women & Children is pleased to announce it has received a $20,000 grant from The Women’s Foundation of Collier County to support the organization’s Hotline Advocate Program.

This funding will help sustain The Shelter’s Hotline Advocate position, which provides ongoing confidential crisis intervention, safety planning, information and referrals, and access to emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking throughout Collier County. The Hotline Advocate serves as a critical first point of contact for individuals seeking help, ensuring survivors and their children can quickly access safety and lifesaving services.

Available 24 hours a day, The Shelter’s crisis hotline is often the first step toward safety for survivors facing dangerous and life-threatening situations. Through compassionate support and immediate response, Hotline Advocates help callers assess their options, develop personalized safety plans, and connect with resources that promote healing and long-term stability.

“The Women’s Foundation of Collier County’s investment in our Hotline Advocate Program helps ensure that no survivor has to face abuse alone,” said Linda Oberhaus Executive Director of the Shelter for Abused Women & Children. “When someone reaches out for help, every moment matters. This funding allows us to continue providing immediate, confidential support and access to critical services for survivors and their children when they need it most.”

The Women’s Foundation of Collier County awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Funding is made possible by donors who believe in the Women’s Foundation and its ability to identify and address the most pressing needs of women and girls in Collier County.
