Katy Tetta honored as Distinguished Volunteer at National Philanthropy Day
Guild member and volunteer Katy Tetta was honored as The Shelter’s Distinguished Volunteer during National Philanthropy Day, Nov. 12, hosted by the Collier-Lee Chapter of the Florida Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Whatever she takes on, Katy is always positive and a great leader by example to other volunteers. She deeply believes in the mission of The Shelter.
She has previously co-chaired the Children’s Parties Committee, creating and hosting parties throughout the year for the children living in our emergency shelters. From Halloween to Easter, Katy carefully planned each party to make the children feel loved and special.
Katy currently co-chairs our Transitional Living (TL) Cottage Committee. These cottages provide up to two years of housing for families in the TL program with rent on a sliding scale. Prior to the family moving in, the TL Committee members furnish and decorate the cottages. When the residents move out, they are able to take the furnishings with them. The detail and care that Katy puts into each cottage is outstanding as is her ability to engage and inspire her committee members. Her priority is to provide a home that a family can grow into, feel safe and continue their journey of rebuilding their lives free from violence and fear.
Congratulations, Katy, and thank you for your amazing service.
