The Shelter receives $10,000 grant from Truist Foundation

Naples, FL, June 14, 2021 – The Shelter for Abused Women & Children today announced it received a generous donation of a $10,000 grant from the Truist Foundation. These funds will help support child care and after-school care for victims of domestic violence residing in the emergency shelter.

“This past year has been a challenging one for all of us, but most especially for the school-aged children in our emergency shelter,” said Shelter CEO Linda Oberhaus. “School provides reprieve and socialization as they heal from the violence experienced in their homes. The loss of physically being able to go to school was devastating for some. Having online access and on-site programs helped fill that void. We are grateful to Truist Foundation for recognizing the need for programs to support our youngest survivors.”

“I’m grateful for this important partnership with The Shelter because of their mission and their alignment with our purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities,” said Darren Gersch, Naples market president for Truist, on behalf of Truist Foundation. “The Shelter plays a crucial role in our community, and we’re here to fully support their efforts in protecting and supporting families.”
