Survivor Sandy Thellus shares her story at Mending Broken Hearts Luncheon
Born and raised in Miami, Sandy Thellus is the daughter of hard-working immigrant parents who instilled in her a value for education and love for a country that gives everyone a chance to pursue their dreams.
At just 16 years old, her dreams would be cut short after meeting and eventually marrying her abuser. It would take nearly 20 years of pain and brokeness before she regained a sense of safety and purpose with the help of The Shelter.
As you listen to her story, I hope you will begin to understand the devastation of domestic violence and the amazing transformation that can take place when a survivor is empowered to take her life back.
