Neighbors, Friends & Family

Neighbors, friends and families are often the first to learn that a loved one is suffering from domestic violence and typically they are the first to respond to the crisis. Individuals across the community may suspect abuse is happening to their neighbor, friend or family member, but most times do not know what to do or say. Therefore, The Shelter works to create domestic violence awareness so that neighbors, friends, and families can become equipped to better respond and support their loved ones.

It is The Shelter’s belief that everyone in our community has a role to play in helping to prevent domestic violence. In doing so, The Shelter’s Neighbors, Friends, and Families campaign seeks to arm individuals with domestic violence information, referrals, and details on how to best support and respond when a loved one is being abused.
