Gabby Petito’s parents speak at Mending Broken Hearts Luncheon

The parents of Gabby Petito are turning heartbreak into hope for others.

Jim and Nichole Schmidt spoke at the 26th Mending Broken Hearts with Hope Luncheon in Florida to raise money for The Shelter for Abused Women & Children, a charity supporting survivors of domestic abuse.

The event was held Feb. 20, at the The Ritz-Carlton in Tiburón.

The Schmidts, co-founders of the Gabby Petito Foundation, have campaigned for domestic violence awareness since their daughter Gabby was killed in 2021.

They said they’re want to help others and prevent more stories like Gabby’s, and if discussing it helps to save just one life, it would be worth it.
