Linda Oberhaus receives state award for leadership
Linda Oberhaus, CEO of The Shelter for Abused Women & Children, recently received the 2018 Spirit of Community Award from the Florida Commission on the Status of Women.
The Spirit of Community Award recognizes meritorious Floridians who have improved the lives of women and have served as positive role models for women and girls in their community. Recipients of the Spirit of Community Award were honored during the Commission’s 4th Quarterly meeting on Nov. 16, 2018, at the Tampa Bay History Center.
Also honored were Stephanie Bowman, Orlando; Louise Bruderle, Sarasota; Paula DeBoles-Johnson, Tallahassee; Rebecca Doane, North Palm Beach; Maureen Dunleavy, Key West; Stacey Hoaglund, Cooper City; Elaine Larson, Palm Bay; Alma Lee Loy, Vero Beach; Janeice T. Martin, Naples; Kelly Otte, Tallahassee; Niritta Patel, Tampa, and Linda Watts, Leesburg.
Nominees were recognized for outstanding achievement from a wide variety of areas including but not limited to: arts, business, education, government, entrepreneurial leader, science (STEM), hometown hero, healthcare, sports, environment, and “one-to-watch” (up and coming youth leader—24 and under).
