Domestic Violence doesn’t stop at the front door
It endangers our whole community
Your generous support to The Shelter goes far beyond helping victims. It is an investment in the safety of our entire community because violence in the home does not stop at the front door. It seeps out into the community, threatening our workplaces, schools, places of worship, and social gatherings. We see the tragic results on the news each night.
In the last five years of statistics, there were over 8,000 calls to 911 regarding domestic violence in Collier County. Thousands more incidents went unreported. We all know the devastating cost these crimes have on victims, but the financial cost to Collier County is substantial. In 2021, costs associated with domestic violence exceeded $30 million in law enforcement, medical care, social services, lost wages and job productivity.
