The Shelter honors three staff members

The Shelter recently honored three staff members for their service. Congratulations to Cyndi Fields for 20 years of service, Lillie Holmes for 10 years of service and Terry Rosalez, June Employee of the Month.

Cyndi Fields
Chief Development Officer
20 Years of Service

“Cyndi Fields has been referred to as a personal hero. Once, by a long time community leader and major donor to The Shelter, Barbara Jordan, and earlier by one of her staff members. For many years, a Hero, was all about myths and powerful men, and yet today we celebrate women and female leaders who are heroes to millions of people.

What is a modern day hero and why is Cyndi Fields our Hero? Words to describe a hero include: courage, passion, integrity, confidence, patience, caring and selflessness. Others that define the hero in Cyndi are honesty, humility, sacrifice, determination, focus, compassion and dedication and loyalty- which others are sure to follow. Let’s not forget her wisdom and sense of responsibility.

Cyndi has courage and determination to achieve goals regardless of personal challenges and professional obstacles. Thank goodness she can laugh, too! Throughout, Cyndi has been a reliable and consistent leader. She is our hero! We are all learning to be stronger and better at providing excellent service to those who entrust their lives and resources to The Shelter.”

Lillie Holmes
Operations Support Administrator
10 Years of Service

“Lillie can be called in so many directions at once and she always has a smile and is willing to help. She works over nights in the emergency shelter when needed and comes in on random Sundays to do karaoke with the residents. She is always ready to help residents with their phone security issues.

When it comes to help with the computers, Lillie is amazing. She runs between both Shelters making sure everything is running smoothly and manages to remain calm at all times! We admire her professionalism and ability to keep focused. You can always rely on Lillie when she says she will do something – it gets done! She is a hardworking, sincere and humble person to work with.”

Terry Rosalez
Immokalee Child Welfare Advocate
June Employee of the Month

“Terry is always positive and willing to help the participants whenever she can. She has worked with dedication especially during this pandemic. She is always available to help, not just participants but coworkers, when we need her. It has been a pleasure to work alongside of her for the last three years. She is a model employee with a heart of gold.  Not only does she go beyond the call of duty, she does so while making it look effortless.  Participants that see her have very kind words about her and hold her in high regard.  As a colleague, she is a kind, and authentic team player and very much an asset to the Immokalee Outreach Team.  Everyone should want to have a “Terry” on their team.

Terry is loyal, reliable and consistent.  We can always count on her to respond in a very timely manner to any question or concern that we may have.  She has gone above and beyond with all the grant requirement of the CPI program.  She brings her warm smile and a ‘Can Do Spirit’ to work each day.  She provides a calm, professional work space for her DCF referrals, some of the most reluctant and non-complainant participants who come through our doors. Terry’s compassionate attitude puts them at ease within minutes.”
