Julie Franklin

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Julie Franklin joined The Shelter for Abused Women & Children in 2013 as Director of Operations and was later promoted to Chief Financial Officer. In 2017, she accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer, guiding the effective operation of programs and services, personnel, and The Shelter facilities. In 2019-2020, she served as the internal project manager for the construction of the new Shelly Stayer Shelter for Victims of Human Trafficking & Domestic Violence in Immokalee and was instrumental in launching The Shelter’s Human Trafficking program. In 2022, she returned to the role of CFO for The Shelter.

Julie graduated Cum Laude from Kent State University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. She earned her fifth year from Florida Gulf Coast University while studying for her master’s degree in accounting and taxation. Julie is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and holds a certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).

First working for a public accounting firm in Ashtabula, Ohio, Julie later relocated to Florida upon accepting the CFO position of a newly established corporation that grew into a 27-location retail enterprise. She led the accounting, human resources and operations departments during her two-year tenure. In 2007, Julie joined a public accounting firm where she led the non-profit auditing department until 2013 when she joined The Shelter.

Julie’s strong combination of public and private experience, as well as her expertise in non-profit accounting and management, results in strategic insights that allow her to consistently deliver innovative, value-added solutions to The Shelter.
