Operations Manager

Title: Operations Manager
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Description: Maintain high quality of all Shelter buildings, sites, and equipment. Oversees security and building maintenance personnel.

Requirements & Skills:

  • High school degree. Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Working experience and knowledge of maintaining a large building complex, security, phone and IT system
  • Excellent mechanical ability necessary
  • Excellent people skills
  • Ability to prioritize work schedule efficiently, source and work with multiple vendors for project quotes
  • Good computer skills and the ability to learn computerized security system
  • Sensitivity to The Shelter’s participants and mission, confidentiality critical
  • Positive, professional manner, good people skills, good communication skills
  • Extremely dependable and the ability to remain calm in a crisis

Duties:

  • Manage capital projects both donor and Federally funded
  • Investigate building and equipment problems and either repair or schedule outside services such as electricians, plumbers, etc.
  • Create and oversee effective work order process for building repairs
  • Create and maintain maintenance manual and calendar of annual tasks such as window washing, terrazzo polishing, fence cleaning, etc.
  • Maintain inventory of fixed assets and update annually. Enter new purchases into inventory and affix asset tag. Delete discarded
    equipment, indicating date and means of disposal
  • Understanding of all building security processes: screening of all visitors to the site using established protocols; knowledge of cameras from
    security office
  • Understanding of facilities phone and IT system
  • Be available for facility emergencies that may occur during night and weekend hours. Go to site to supervise or assist as necessary
  • Perform other tasks as directed by management
