Two Shelter Trustees honored at Women of Initiative Luncheon
The Shelter is pleased to announce that Carolyn “Cat” Tieger and Mary Susan Gallien Clinton were among five Women of Initiative honored by The Women’s Foundation of Collier County, Nov. 22, during the Women of Initiative Luncheon at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples. Carolyn and Mary Susan are members of The Shelter’s Board of Trustees and founding members of The Shelter’s Safe Haven Society. Also honored at the luncheon were Women of Initiative recipients Angela Meister, Anne Fleming, and Barbie Hills.
Carolyn, an award-winning public affairs strategist and communications veteran, brought her acumen from Washington, D.C., to Naples in 2009, where she founded Tieger Public Affairs while becoming immersed in the community. Carolyn chaired The Shelter’s Communications Committee for nine years and served on the Board of Trustees. She and her beloved dog Kirbie led the efforts to endow the dog and cat kennels at the Shelly Stayer Shelter in Immokalee. She is also a member of the board of the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida and Greater Naples Leadership.
Mary Susan has lived in Collier County for over 30 years. She and her husband, J.D. Clinton, are founding trustees of the Naples Children & Education Foundation and were instrumental in organizing the first Naples Winter Wine Festival. She is also deeply engaged with The Shelter and serves on the Board of Trustees and Co-Chaired the 2024 Mending Broken Hearts with Hope Luncheon. Her concern for domestic violence led her to serve as Vice Chair of the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
