Prevent
There were over 1,680 reported domestic violence offenses in Collier County in 2019. Children exposed to
violence in their home are also victims of physical and emotional abuse. Those who witness domestic
violence between parents may be at greater risk of being violent or being victimized in their future
relationships. For this reason, primary prevention is vital to The Shelter’s mission:
To Prevent, Protect and Prevail over
domestic violence and human trafficking through
advocacy, empowerment and social change
In 2019-2020
