Prevent






              There were over 1,680 reported domestic violence offenses in Collier County in 2019. Children exposed to
              violence in their home are also victims of physical and emotional abuse. Those who witness domestic
              violence between parents may be at greater risk of being violent or being victimized in their future
              relationships. For this reason, primary prevention is vital to The Shelter’s mission:

                                                    In 2019-2020




                                                    • The Shelter’s Primary Prevention team reached a total of
                                                      22,426 school students.

                                                    • 77 children took part in The Shelter’s new Clinical Services
                                                      program designed to help them process and integrate
                                                      traumatic events in order to heal and move on.
