The Shelter honors two for longevity & service
The Shelter for Abused Women & Children recently recognized two employees during the regular monthly staff meeting.
Pat Mantey was recognized for 20 years of service to The Shelter. A survivor of domestic abuse, Pat joined the Shelter as a volunteer in the emergency shelter to see first-hand how she could help other survivors. She was so moved by the experience that she joined the staff in 2000.
“I understand them,” she says of working with participants. “It is a wonderful experience and I feel truly blessed.”
Manuel Vazquez (Manny) was honored as the August Employee of the Month. Here’s what his colleagues had to say about him:
“Manny has been so instrumental to our shelter team. Even during a time of changes & challenges he has been a champion! First, he WOW-ed us with his hidden technical skills which have become vital to our education team. He is always looking for ways to add the most unique graphics and editing skills to paint The Shelter in the best bright purple light! Manny has also stepped up when we needed help in emergency shelter. He always brings an enthusiastic and charismatic attitude to our team and I do think it improves morale! He is also thorough and reliable – I know I can count on him to get things done.”
“Manny has shown team work, creativity and has gone above and beyond this past month to support the greater need of the organization. He is always so positive and never has anything less than a BIG smile on his face. He shows compassion and has really excelled serving as an educator in our community. Thank you for everything you do to support our mission. You make a positive difference in our community and on our Shelter team.”
