Tama Caldarone

Tama Caldarone has served as the Shelter for Abused Women & Children’s Staff Attorney since June of 2017.
She started her career as a domestic violence prosecutor at the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office before eventually specializing in the Sexual Battery Unit. There, she prosecuted felony sexual battery and homicide prosecutions punishable by up to life in prison.
Tama then moved to Southwest Florida to accept a position as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida where she specialized in prosecuting human trafficking and child pornography cases. While working at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, she coordinated and chaired the Southwest Florida Human Trafficking Task Force.
Tama later moved to Children’s Legal Services as a Senior Attorney where she advocated for the safety and stability of dependent children. She has also served as an adjunct professor at Florida Gulf Coast University in the Justice Studies department and at Hodges University in the Justice Department.
