The current facility
In 1989, The Shelter’s journey began with a single
step taken by a handful of committed individuals
who believed that every human being has the right
to a life free from domestic violence. The course set
by those early trailblazers unified a community of
support, and the resulting journey has transformed
the lives of thousands of survivors in Collier County.
It is our goal that one day, The Shelter will reach its
destination when every home in Collier County is
a safe haven for the family it shelters. Until then, as
Ernest Hemingway said, “It is good to have an end
to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in
the end.”
We invite you to join our journey as we seek to
prevent, protect and prevail over domestic violence
through advocacy, empowerment and social
change.
